Santa Clara Police Report: June 23 – 29

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Weapons Call

Location:  2000 Block of Warburton Avenue

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving a subject who was armed with a knife. The reporting party told police dispatchers that two females were in a verbal argument and one of the females was armed with a knife and was stabbing the other subject’s backpack, which was on the ground at the time. Officers located both females on the corner of Scott Boulevard and Warburton Avenue. Both subjects were heavily intoxicated. One subject had a fixed blade knife concealed in her waistband. Both females denied any physical altercation. Both subjects were arrested for Public Intoxication. The female with the concealed knife was additionally arrested for carrying a concealed dirk/dagger.

DUI

Location:  2100 Block of Laurelwood Road

Officers were dispatched to the report of an intoxicated male driving a vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel. Officers located the driver and determined he was under the influence and impaired.  He was placed under arrest and later transported to County Jail.

Resisting/Obstructing an Officer

Location:  1000 Block of Railroad Avenue

Officers were dispatched to the Railroad Depot for a combative subject on the train. Officers contacted the suspect, who lied about his name. The suspect then spit on an officer. The suspect was later booked into County Jail for assault on a Police Officer.

Drug Arrest

Location: 1000 Block of East El Camino Real, Sunnyvale

While working the vehicle burglary suppression detail, an officer was monitoring the parking lot of a local eating establishment. The officer saw a suspicious vehicle parked next to a high-end vehicle and backed into a parking space. The vehicle was occupied by several subjects who showed a panicked face upon seeing the officer. The vehicle fled the parking lot and then west on El Camino Real.

Officers stopped the vehicle. One subject was found to be on probation while a second was on parole. A search of the vehicle produced a stun gun device. A detailed search of one of the subjects revealed suspected heroin. He was subsequently arrested for being a felon with the stun gun, possession of drugs for sales and four outstanding warrants. The other two occupants were released at the scene.

Injury Accident

Location:  Lawrence Expressway/Monroe Street

Officers responded to an injury accident at the above location.  An inexperienced driver drove up onto the sidewalk hitting and injuring multiple people as they waited for transit services. The injured parties were transported to a local hospital.

Theft

Location:  3700 Block of El Camino Real

Officers responded to a theft report of a wallet taken from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. Additional victims from the same parking lot reported similar crimes. The investigating officer sought video footage from area businesses. An officer viewed and recorded the footage, then sought out to find the suspect. One victim called the officer alerting her that an unknown suspect was using her card at several local businesses. The officer responded to one of the businesses to conduct follow-up investigation. As the officer was stepping out of the business, she saw the suspect previously viewed on the footage. The officer contacted and arrested the suspect, who was in possession of a victim’s wallet, cards and a portion of the stolen $3,500 in cash.

Drug Arrest

Location:  De La Cruz Blvd/Robert Avenue

Officers located a suspicious vehicle parked on De La Cruz Boulevard near Robert Ave. The suspect attempted to evade Officers on foot but was apprehended. He was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for driving on a suspended license. The suspect was also in possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine pipes.
