The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest.

Residential Burglary

Location: 1400 Block of Don Avenue

At approximately 0035 hours, Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding two subjects, one male and one female, stealing mail from a bank of mailboxes on the 1400 block of Don Avenue.

Two witnesses confronted the subjects and both subjects attempted to flee the scene. The female subject was detained by the witnesses until police arrived. The subject complained of pain related with being detained, the Fire Department was summoned, and she was transported to a local hospital.

Approximately 100 pieces of mail addressed to various apartments on the 1400 block of Don Avenue were recovered. It is unknown if the male subject retained any mail while fleeing.

The female subject was arrested, and the male subject has not been identified and remains at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 2700 Block of Augustine Drive

Between 1/3/21 at approximately 1700 hours and 1/4/21 at approximately 0800 hours, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a business on the 2700 block of Augustine Drive and stole several items. The subject(s) remain at large.

Resisting Arrest

Location: Buckingham Drive and Stevens Creek Boulevard

An officer observed a vehicle without a front license plate traveling on Stevens Creek Boulevard near Buckingham Drive. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

The officer contacted the vehicle’s two occupants, one male and one female. The officer was conducting a Records check when the male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Several officers responded to the area to search for the subject without success. Meanwhile, the female passenger was detained in handcuffs. She was eventually arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and medication without a prescription and released at the scene.

The Records return later revealed the male subject had three active warrants, one felony and two misdemeanors, for his arrest.

Vandalism

Location: 1800 Block of Graham Lane

A subject parked a construction vehicle on the 1800 block of Graham Lane before starting work on a nearby residence.

A female subject, carrying pepper spray, began kicking and banging on the vehicle. She yelled at the driver not to park in front of her house and fled the scene.

The victim moved the vehicle and called Public Safety Dispatchers. Approximately $2,000 in damage was done to the company vehicle. The subject is at large.

Fraud

Location: 100 Block of Tyler Avenue

A victim on the 100 block of Tyler Avenue was contacted by a collection’s agency.

An unknown subject had opened a line of credit in the victim’s name with PayPal and charged $5,067.20. The victim reported the incident to SCPD at the request of the PayPal fraud investigators.

Threats

Location: 3300 Block of Homestead Road

On 1/6/21, a property manager for an apartment complex on the 3300 block of Homestead Road located a male subject sleeping and storing personal items within the apartment complex. The victim contacted the subject and requested he leave the property. The subject complied.

On 1/8/21, the victim noticed the subject had returned with his belongings. The victim told the subject to leave the property and the subject told the victim it would take a few minutes to gather his belongings. In the meantime, the victim contacted Public Safety Dispatchers via the non-emergency phone line to request assistance.

The subject abandoned his personal items, held a knife with an exposed blade in his hand and advanced toward the victim. The victim called 9-1-1.

Officers located a subject matching the victim’s description on the 3100 block of Homestead Road. The victim positively identified the subject during an in-field show-up. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: 100 Block of Monroe Street

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding a vehicle collision on the 100 block of Monroe Street.

It was determined a male subject’s vehicle collided with two unoccupied parked vehicles. On contact, officers observed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He did not satisfactorily complete the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
