Santa Clara Police Report: February 23 – 29

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Resisting Arrest

Location: Calabazas Boulevard and El Camino Real

An officer observed a male subject walk westbound on El Camino Real against a “Don’t Walk” symbol. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

As the officer exited their patrol vehicle, the subject immediately started yelling and became aggressive. The officer instructed the subject to sit down on multiple occasions, however the subject did not comply. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Trespassing

Location: 1400 Block of Don Avenue

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a male subject trespassing on the 1400 block of Don Avenue.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the reporting party and learned a male subject had been arrested for trespassing on two previous occasions (Case Numbers 20-222132 and 20-222238) and had been asked to leave the property on two previous occasions on 2/24/20. He was being hostile and intimidating residents. On this occasion, the subject refused to leave.

The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Fraud

Location: 2100 Block of Hunter

A victim discovered a fraudulent credit card charge in the amount of $245.59 and called Public Safety Dispatchers. An officer was deployed.

Through investigation, it was determined there were multiple attempts to open four new credit cards using the victim’s information. The subject worked with one credit card company to change the victim’s mailing address. In addition, the subject had attempted to open a new checking account and transfer the victim’s balance into the new account. The subject was unsuccessful in making the transfer.

The victim did not give anyone permission to change account information on existing accounts or use the victim’s personal information to apply for new accounts. The subject remains at large.

Residential Burglary

Location: 1600 Santa Cruz Avenue

When returning home from work, a resident on the 1600 block of Santa Cruz Avenue discovered the sliding glass door on the residence had been shattered and interior had been ransacked.

An unknown suspect(s) entered the residence and stole electronics, jewelry and miscellaneous items valued at $10,700. The subjects remain at large.

Petty Theft

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real

A female juvenile subject entered a business on the 2000 block of El Camino Real, selected items valued at $109.98 and exited the store without paying. A Loss Prevention Specialist detained the juvenile and contacted Public Safety Dispatchers for police response.

An officer responded. The juvenile signed the Juvenile Crime Report and was released to the custody of her grandmother.

Public Intoxication

Location: Civic Center Drive at Lincoln Street

An officer was dispatched to Lincoln Street at Civic Center Drive to conduct a welfare check. A reporting party described a male subject who had fallen down and was laying on the sidewalk.

Upon arrival, officers observed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Smoking Ordinance

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real

An officer observed a male subject smoking near the front door of a restaurant on the 2000 block of El Camino Real. The subject was issued an administrative citation for smoking in a prohibited area.
