Santa Clara Police Report: February 2 – 8

Trespassing

Location: 3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

A store employee contacted Public Safety Dispatchers regarding a male subject previously removed from the store by police that had returned to the business. The subject was previously told he was not allowed back in the store or he would be arrested for trespassing.

The subject had a shopping cart full of food and merchandise; the food items were partially eaten. The subject was found to be in possession of stolen property from a neighboring store. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Petty Theft

Location: 2000 Block of El Camino Real

At approximately 2026 hours, a petty theft occurred on the 2000 block of El Camino Real.

A female subject loaded $675.17 of merchandise into a shopping cart and walked past all points of sale without an intent to pay. A Loss Prevention Specialist detained the subject as she exited the business and contacted Public Safety Dispatchers. The responding police officer arrested the subject.

Citation

Location: El Camino Real and Los Padres Boulevard

An officer observed a female subject smoking at the bus stop at El Camino Real and Los Padres Boulevard. This is a violation of Santa Clara’s Smoking and Tobacco Regulation Ordinance. The subject was cited and released with an administration citation.

Robbery

Location: Mauricia Avenue and Warren Drive

Two subjects at Santana Row used an app to request a rideshare. The rideshare driver (victim) transported the subjects to the area of Mauricia Avenue and Warren Drive.

After receiving the ride, one of the subjects held the victim in the driver’s seat from behind in a chokehold and demanded the victim’s money. The victim was able to free himself and ran approximately one block where he was able to flag down a bystander to call Public Safety Dispatchers.

Arriving officers located a subject matching the suspect’s description. The subject initially complied with officer commands and laid on the ground. For an unknown reason, the subject jumped to his feet and attempted to flee. While trying to flee, the subject fell causing injuries to his face and toe. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Suspicious Circumstances

Location: 1900 Block of Halford Avenue

Two unknown subjects attempted to remove two small window screens on the 1900 block of Halford Avenue.

The reporting party heard two subjects talking outside the residence, opened the front door and the subjects fled the scene. The subjects were not located and remain outstanding.

Vehicle Burglary

Location: 4300 Block of Great America Parkway

A victim’s rental vehicle was broken into in a parking lot on the 4300 block of Great America Parkway.

While the victim was standing near the rental car evaluating the damage, a male subject pulled up in a vehicle and engaged the victim in conversation. The subject was holding a semi-automatic handgun. Then, the subject drove away.

Multiple items were stolen, including diaper bag, wallet, gift cards, cash and social security cards, totaling $2,190. The subject is unknown and at large.

Identity Theft

Location: Bing Drive and Lochinvar Avenue

An officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle on Lochinvar Avenue without a light. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

During the contact, the subject consented to a search. During the search, the officer located six credit cards, a hotel room key and vehicle car keys not belonging to him. He was arrested.
