The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Drunk in Public
Location: Flora Vista Avenue and Warburton Avenue
Public Safety Dispatchers deployed officers to the area of Warburton Avenue and Flora Vista Avenue after receiving a call for service about a fight involving four male subjects and a baseball bat.
On arrival, officers located subject matching the reporting party’s description. One of the subjects displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and there were several empty beer cans nearby. Through investigation, officers determined there was not a fight and no crime occurred.
However, a Records check of the intoxicated subject revealed he had a $20,000 misdemeanor warrant. He did not comply with officer’s instructions and was unable to care for himself due to his level of intoxication. For his safety and the safety of the public, he was arrested. There was a brief struggle during this process. He was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Commercial Burglary
Location: 3100 Block of Central Expressway
As employees arrived to work on the 3100 block of Central Expressway, it was discovered the gated fence was ajar. On a closer look, the lock to the gate was cut and items within the construction site was missing. The total loss was estimated at $1,100. The subject(s) remain at large.

Commercial Burglary
Location: 1700 Block of Space Park Drive
On August 18, 2020 and August 20, 2020, several trailers belonging to the Santa Clara Vanguard were burglarized in the City of Santa Clara. A large amount of property was stolen, including several generators, a laptop, a public address system and a synthesizer. Surveillance footage in the area recorded the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene.
On September 1, 2020, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Santa Clara Police Detectives were conducting follow-up related to the burglary when they located the suspect vehicle driving in the area of Comstock Street and Kenneth Street in Santa Clara. Officers contacted the driver, 41-year-old Brendan Dixon-Beckett of Santa Clara. He was found to be in possession of some items taken during the Vanguard burglary, including a $4,000 synthesizer. Further follow-up revealed more Vanguard property inside a local storage unit. The property, including instruments and uniforms, was recovered and returned to the Santa Clara Vanguard.
Dixon-Beckett was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After being booked in, he was released from custody per the Santa Clara County Zero Bail Order.

Fraud
Location: 2300 Block of El Camino Real
On 7/28/20 and 7/30/20, a subject entered a business on the 2300 block of El Camino Real and cashed two payroll checks.
On 9/2/20, a representative from the business contacted Public Safety Dispatchers because both checks had been returned by the bank. The bank indicated that both checks had been deposited into the subject’s account prior to being cashed. The total loss is $1817.67.

Fraud
Location: 2400 Block of Mosswood Lane
A victim on the 2400 block of Mosswood Lane was on a home computer when multiple pop-up type ads appeared. The victim was convinced the computer had a virus and one of the ads provided a fix to the problem. The victim contacted the phone number on the screen and spoke with a representative. The victim was charged $549.99 via credit card to correct the issue.
Shortly after completing the transaction, the victim became suspicious and began doing some research on the company. The research led the victim to believe it was a virus scam.
The victim contacted the credit card company used to make the purchase and canceled the charge.
The victim filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission and the Police Department.

Discharge of a Firearm
Location: Lawrence Expressway and Benton Street
At approximately 0102 hours, the occupants of a vehicle discharged a firearm while traveling on Lawrence Expressway near Benton Street. This incident was observed by a police officer. The officer initiated a high-risk traffic enforcement stop on Briarwood Drive and the subjects were taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle yielded a firearm, ammunition, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Eight spent shell cases were located at the scene. The casings matched the caliber and brand of the firearm located inside the vehicle.
A Records check revealed the driver has a suspended driver’s license. The passenger was determined to be a convicted felon currently on parole with a confirmed warrant. He, along with the vehicle’s driver, were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
Neither arrestee was the registered owner of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: Bowers Avenue and Chromite Drive
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call for service regarding a collision on Bowers Avenue near Chromite Drive. The reporting party stated the solo vehicle was doing donuts, crashed into a fence and was attempting to leave the scene.
On arrival, an officer located a vehicle matching the reporting party’s description. The vehicle was unoccupied. Witnesses informed the officer that the driver was sitting in the passenger seat of a nearby parked vehicle.
The subject displayed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The officer facilitated Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and administered a Preliminary Alcohol Screening Test resulting in a 0.094 and 0.10 blood alcohol content. The driver was arrested and booked at the Santa Clara County Jail.
