Santa Clara Police Department: October 4 – 10

The Santa Clara Police Department had a car accident due to a suspect Driving Under the Influence. They also got a call about a Disturbance due to a party.

Grand Theft

Location: 800 Block of Agnew Road

At approximately 0944 hours, Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a prior theft.

At approximately 0730 hours, the victim discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen from the 800 block of Agnew Road. The total loss is estimated at $1,700. The subject(s) remains at large.

Warrant Arrest

Location: Calabazas Boulevard and El Camino Real

An officer observed a vehicle driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the area of El Camino Real and Calabazas Boulevard.

The officer contacted the male driver. A Records check revealed the subject has three warrants. The subject was issued two Notice to Appears and released from the scene.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: Lawrence Expressway and Cabrillo Avenue

A major injury traffic collision was reported on Lawrence Expressway and Cabrillo Avenue.

According to witnesses, the male subject was driving southbound on Lawrence Expressway in the northbound lanes of traffic. The subject collided with several vehicles. Members of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) were first on scene.

On arrival, members of our Department observed two Sunnyvale DPS officers detaining a subject. The subject was screaming hysterically and physically resisting officers. According to witnesses, following the collision the subject exited his vehicle and began running around the expressway. A driver uninvolved with the collision was attempting to detain the subject when Sunnyvale DPS arrived.

A motorist involved in the collision suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The subject displayed objective symptoms of drug intoxication. Due to his behavior, officers were unable to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests or conduct a preliminary alcohol screening test. The subject was transported to a local hospital and was later released on his own recognizance due to medical issues.

Warrant Arrest

Location: 3600 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

An officer observed a subject vehicle on the 3600 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard in violation of the California Vehicle Code. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

The officer contacted the male subject. A Records check revealed the subject had a warrant and his driver’s license was suspended. The subject received a citation and Notice to Appear.

Disturbance

Location: 600 Block of Lafayette Street

Public Safety Dispatchers received a call regarding a loud party on the 600 block of Lafayette Street.

On arrival, officers observed approximately 11 people inside and outside the residence. Amplified music was being played and no alcohol was present. The party was shut down while officers were present. The residents received a warning.

Petty Theft

Location: 600 Block of Benton Street

An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Benton Street on the report of a package theft. Witnesses provided Public Safety Dispatchers with a description of the male subject and direction of travel.

Arriving officers located a subject matching the reporting party’s description on Benton Street near The Alameda. The subject was in possession of two packages with the victim’s address. The subject was issued a citation and released from the scene.

The packages were recovered and returned to the victim.

Warrant Arrest

Location: 2400 Block of El Camino Real

An officer was patrolling a hotel on the 2400 block of El Camino Real and observed a female subject unloading clothes from the truck of a vehicle. The officer conducted a license plate check of the vehicle and learned the registered owner of the vehicle has a misdemeanor warrant. The officer initiated a pedestrian stop.

A Records check confirmed the identity of the subject and the warrant. She was issued a Notice to Appear.
