Santa Clara City Library Comic Con Returns October 12

The fourth annual Santa Clara City Library Comic Con is coming up quickly on Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Central Park Library, 2635 Homestead Rd., in Santa Clara. The annual comic con is a family-friendly, free event for the fans of everything from Star Wars to superheroes to Harry Potter and beyond.

“From cosplay contests to Harry Potter-themed trivia, the Santa Clara City Library Comic Con is open to all those who celebrate geek culture,” said Hilary Keith, City Librarian. “Events like Comic Con provide a place for community members to celebrate, collaborate and connect with Bay Area artists, educators, creators, vendors, makers and authors.”

Comic Con is a full day celebration of pop culture. Guests can get crafty with geeky favorites for all ages. Craft an Infinity Gauntlet bracelet, a Groot planter, Harry Potter felt ties, or make them all. Graphic novels have been exploding in popularity, now more than ever, and are proven to be a way to encourage creativity and literacy among fans of all ages.

Scheduled activities include a panel with author and artist Dana Simpson and a conversational panel with cosplayer and creator VampyBitMe. Los Angeles-based sculptor J★RYU is also going to be at this action-packed event.

One amazing opportunity is a panel with Daniel Clark, a visual effects artist. He will take attendees behind-the-scenes of Pixar films like The Incredibles 2, Cars 3 and Finding Dory to share how Pixar artists create the amazing effects that bring ocean waves, car chases and superheroes to life on the big screen.

There will also be character story times with your favorite comic book characters, saber training, cosplay contests, anime screenings, and much more.

Fuel yourself for the Comic Con at the food trucks that will be parked in the parking lot right outside. Local favorites like The Meating Spot and Sarah’s Latin Taste will be on deck.
