Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A will occupy the former McDonald’s location at 1950 El Camino Real. “We are always evaluating potential new locations in the hopes of serving existing and new customers great food with remarkable service,” said Chick-fil-A’s Senior Principal Team Leader of Public Relations Jackie Jags. “We are excited to confirm that we will open our newest Northern California location at 1950 El Camino Real in Santa Clara with a projected third quarter 2019 grand opening.”

 

Rita’s Italian Ice and Frozen Custard
Rita’s Italian Ice and Frozen Custard is set to open early 2019 at 1801 Pruneridge Ave. in Santa Clara (corner of Pruneridge and Winchester). The Santa Clara location will join nearby Rita’s Italian Ice spots at the SAP Center and at 475 E. Campbell Ave. (near Winchester Boulevard) in Campbell.

 

Barry’s Bootcamp
Barry’s Bootcamp will open a 4,454 square foot studio at Santana Row in the summer of 2019 with its signature cardio and strength interval workouts. This will be the first Barry’s Bootcamp in the South Bay. Other locations are in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Burlingame. Visit barrysbootcamp.com for additional information.

Meso Modern Mediterranean
From the management behind Left Bank Brasserie and LB Steak, Meso Modern Mediterranean, with French inspired Mediterranean, will open in the fall of 2019 at Santana Row. The menu will emphasize fish, rotisserie meats, grains and vegetables with saffron, za’atar, cinnamon, fennel, coriander and nutmeg.

 

Blue Bottle Coffee

Blue Bottle Coffee will open at Santana Row in the spring of 2019. The indoor/outdoor café will offer drip coffee and espresso as well as a selection of bites including pastries, Liège waffles and toasts. This will be Blue Bottle’s first South Bay location. Closing/Closed
City Lights Espresso
After nearly two decades City Lights Espresso at 1171 Homestead Rd. (at Jackson Street) closed on Dec. 22.

 

McDonald’s
McDonald’s at the corner of El Camino Real and Scott Boulevard closed earlier this month. According to the McDonald’s public relations team, the restaurant, which was a corporate store, closed on Dec. 3 after the landowner decided not to renew the McDonald’s lease and all employees were offered positions at nearby restaurants. Additional Santa Clara McDonald’s locations are at 1451 Coleman Ave. (at Brokaw Road), 2850 Augustine Dr. (at Bowers Avenue), 2509 Homestead Rd. (at Lawrence Expressway) and 3895 Stevens Creek Blvd. (at Saratoga Avenue).
