On June 2, the Santa Clara Ballet School and Company presented Spring Enchantments at the Mission City Center for the Performing Arts. SCB opened the show with its younger ballerinas dancing to “Once Upon a Dream” choreographed by Jyvonne Montosa and “From Barre to the Stage” choreographed by artistic director Josefa Villanueva-Reyes. The ballet company then performed scenes from Coppelia, choreographed by Benjamin Reyes after Arthur Saint-Leon and Les Sylphides, with original choreography by Michael Fokine, before ending the performance with Peter and the Wolf, also choreographed by Reyes. The DanceWright Project in San Francisco performed “Alter Egos – Trois” with choreography by Jamie Ray Wright, Dance Attack Ballet Arts in Los Gatos danced “Aranjuez” choreographed by Mariana Sobral, and Copious Dance Theater in San Francisco, with choreography by Kat Worthington, showcased its group of dancers by performing the visually stunning “Taka.” For more information or to enroll in classes visit www.santaclaraballet.com.
