Row event raises awareness for AHA campaign

Last Saturday, Santana Row hosted the third annual Wine and Dine Around, a benefit to raise awareness of the impact for heart disease and stroke on women as part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign.

One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from ticket sales went to the AHA campaign, which allowed people the chance to sample more than 40 wines from 15 wineries throughout the Bay Area, many of which from the South Bay.

Some of the wines offered to guests during the three-hour event were merlot, cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel, syrah, pinot noir and chardonnay, among others, coming from varying years.

In addition to sampling some of the finest wines the Bay Area has to offer, those who put down money for a good cause were treated with heart-healthy eating tips and take-home recipes from some of the Row’s restaurants. In total $1,910 was raised.

“Wine & Dine Around events at Santana Row are an important part of the Row’s charitable work as they benefit significant organizations and programs,” said Santana Row PR staff member Trisha Clayton in an email. Throughout the year, the Row holds four to five wine and dine events.

AHA doesn’t recommend drinking wine in excess in order to improve your health; if you are to drink wine, the association suggests a daily intake of four ounces.
