Dear Mr. Martinez,
I wish I had thought to reach out to you before you passed away, but I didn't. I'm posting this so that those who choose to read this will know that you were a kind and generous man you were. I played on your baseball and football teams in the early 1980's and learned much from you and Albert during that time. We learned the X's and O'Ss, but more importantly you believed in us. You tought us to be confident and humble. You showed us how to win gracefully and to accept loss with dignity. Most importantly, you cared enough to give 35 years of your life and you were a role model, for hundreds or even thousands of kids--and parents too.
THANK YOU. I will never forget you.
Sincerely,
Brian A. Hazle
