Police Report: Sept 23 – 29

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. Commercial Burglary

Location:  700 Block of Mathew Street

Officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress on the 700 block of Mathew Street.

Upon arrival, officers noticed the glass to the front doors were broken. Officers surrounded the business and deployed a K-9 to search for anyone inside. The suspect(s) had already fled the scene. Cash was stolen and two vending machines were opened.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location:  Lafayette Street and Parker Court

An officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject in the area of Lafayette Street and Reed Avenue who matched the description of a suspect connected with a theft of a laptop in the area of Franklin Street and Sherman Street.

During the investigation, it was determined the individual was not associated with the theft. However, a Records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Discharge of a Firearm

Location:  Lawrence Expressway and Cabrillo Avenue

On September 25, at approximately 12:39 a.m., the Santa Clara Police Department received a call of a shooting that had occurred. The victim and suspect(s) first saw each other while in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. When the victim drove away and onto northbound Lawrence Expressway, the suspect vehicle followed. They proceeded northbound when the victim heard several gunshots in the area of Cabrillo Avenue. He quickly realized that the suspect was shooting at him. The victim lost control of his car and struck the center median before careening to a stop.  The male victim then fled the area on foot. He was not struck by any rounds and was uninjured.  The suspect vehicle sped away from the scene.

Hit and Run

Location:  N. Winchester Boulevard and Stevens Creek Boulevard

Officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision on N. Winchester Boulevard near Stevens Creek Boulevard. The victim’s vehicle suffered back end damage and the suspect vehicle sustained front-end damage before fleeing the scene.

Aided by numerous witnesses, officers were guided to the suspect vehicle on Valerie Ruth Court. The driver was eventually arrested for hit and run, driving under the influence of drugs, and a parole hold. The passenger was arrested for being under the influence of drugs and a probation violation. Both suspects were booked at Santa Clara County Jail.

Shot Into a Building

Location:  1000 Block of Benton Street

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Benton Street after receiving a call from a male subject who reported he had discharged a weapon into the ceiling of his apartment.

Arriving officers established a perimeter and the armored rescue vehicle was deployed. An arrest team assembled behind the armored rescue vehicle, while Public Safety Dispatchers hailed the subject from his apartment. He was detained without further incident.

Officers searched neighboring apartments and confirmed no innocent parties were hurt. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location:  3000 Block of Kaiser Drive

A high-risk arrest warrant was served on the 3000 block of Kaiser Drive.

One male suspect was arrested for an outstanding probation violation warrant and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. Five other subjects were released at the scene.

Medical Call

Location:  4500 Block of Carlyle Court

Officers responded to the 4500 block of Carlyle Court on the report of a 1-year-old child that fell out of a three-story window. The child was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Detective Bureau was notified and Child Protective Services was contacted. Following a thorough investigation, no signs of foul play were identified.
