Police Report: January 13 – 19

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Drug Arrest

Location:  The Alameda and El Camino Real

An officer conducted a registration check on a vehicle on The Alameda. The return indicated the registration was suspended. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

The officer made contact with the female driver. The subject displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and smelled of alcohol. The subject had an open container of alcohol, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance in the vehicle. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Traffic Accident – Major Injury

Location:  Homestead Road and Las Palmas Drive

A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk at Homestead Road and Las Palmas Drive. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene following the incident.

Trespassing

Location:  2900 Block of Lakeside Drive

Officers responded to the 2900 block of Lakeside Drive on the report of a trespassing violation.

Upon arrival, the officer learned an individual arrived for work and was challenged to a fight by a subject in the building. It appears several homeless subjects gained access to the building to escape the wet, cold weather.

Suspicious Circumstances

Location:  Cabrillo Avenue and Amethyst Drive

Public Safety Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the area of Cabrillo Avenue and Amethyst Drive.

Upon arrival, witnesses described a vehicle in the area associated with the loud noises and flashes of light. The suspicious vehicle fled the scene prior to officer arrival. This case has been forwarded to the Investigations Division for follow-up.

Stolen Vehicle

Location: 2100 Block of Laurelwood Road

Between 01/16/19 at 04:30 hours and 01/16/19 at 05:10 hours, an unknown suspect(s) stole a vehicle parked in a hotel parking lot on the 2100 block of Laurelwood Road. The vehicle is valued at approximately $2,000. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Assault

Location:  3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

Loss Prevention personnel witnessed a female suspect shoplift. The suspect had placed two items in her purse and exited a business without paying.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard and learned the suspect struck a Loss Prevention Officer multiple times after being confronted about the petty theft outside the store. Loss Prevention Officers detained the suspect in handcuffs until police arrival.

A Records check revealed the suspect was on active felony probation. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Possession of Stolen Property

Location:  El Camino Real and Kiely Boulevard

An officer observed a vehicle traveling on El Camino Real and observed a vehicle with expired registration. A registration check confirmed such and the officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

The officer approached the vehicle occupied by two female subjects. A Records check revealed both subjects were on formal searchable probation. A probation search of the vehicle yielded stolen property and prescription drugs not belonging to either party. The driver was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Commercial Burglary

Location:  3000 Block of Bunker Hill Lane

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed officers to a commercial burglary in progress on the 3000 block of Bunker Hill Lane.

Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business. The suspect(s) fled prior to police arrival. At the time of this report, it was unknown what, if anything, was stolen.
