Police Report: August 12 – 18

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the City and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s homepage (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Resisting/Obstructing                     Location:  3400 Block of El Camino Real

Officers were working as a two-person unit when they spotted a female subject jaywalking across the 3400 block of El Camino Real between Flora Vista Avenue and Nobili Avenue.

The officers made contact with the subject and instructed her to place her purse on the hood of the patrol vehicle. The subject refused, threw the purse on the ground and began running west along the businesses. While fleeing from the officers, the subject also threw something underneath a parked vehicle.

Officers caught up with the subject and placed her under arrest. A Records check revealed she was on active probation. She was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail for the probation violation and resisting arrest.

Threats                                              Location: 1500 Block of Halford Avenue

An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of Halford Avenue on the report of an individual threatened by an unknown subject.

The victim received multiple text messages from the suspect. The suspect threatened to murder the victim’s family unless the victim wired the suspect $500. The victim wired the suspect $500 out of fear. After further investigation officers determined the call was a scam. Detectives were notified.

Threats                                              Location:  3500 Block of Agate Drive

Public Safety Dispatchers received a report of a restraining order violation, terrorist threats and stalking.

The suspect called the victim from three separate phone numbers 73 times on 8/12/18 and threatened to kill the victim and hurt the victim’s family. On 8/13/18, the suspect called the victim 24 times and the victim’s place of employment on multiple occasions.

The suspect remains at large.

Found Property                                Location:  2100 Block of Laurelwood Road

An officer located a suspicious parked unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel on the 2100 block of Laurelwood Road.

The keys to the vehicle were left on the trunk of a vehicle. The officer attempted to make contact with the registered owner, with negative results.

A Records check of the registered owner revealed the suspect has an outstanding $40,000 misdemeanor warrant. The officer booked the keys into evidence for safekeeping.

Residential Burglary                                   Location: 1400 Block of Calabazas Boulevard

Between approximately 1230 hours and 1555 hours, a residential burglary occurred on the 1400 block of Calabazas Boulevard.

An unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door and made entry into the residence. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s briefcase containing tax documents, a passport and foreign currency. The suspect(s) is unknown and outstanding.

Robbery                                            Location:  200 Block of Saratoga Avenue

Officers responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at a business on the 200 block of Saratoga Avenue.

Two male suspects wearing hoodies entered the store, went to the pharmacy and hopped over the counter. The suspects demanded bottles of pain killers from the pharmacists. Fearing for their safety, the employees directed the pair to the requested items.

The suspects took the items and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The suspects are outstanding.

Warrant Arrest                                  Location: El Camino Real and San Tomas Expressway

An officer observed a vehicle driving eastbound El Camino Real near San Tomas Expressway with no license plates. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop.

A Records check revealed the male suspect had a suspended driver license and a $10,000 warrant. The suspect was arrested.

Saturday, August 18, 2018

Public Safety Dispatchers deployed SCPD and SCFD to San Tomas Expressway and Scott Boulevard for a traffic accident.

Upon arrival, they found one vehicle on its’ roof and another vehicle smashed against it. The drivers had minor, non-life threatening injuries. The intersection was partially blocked while emergency personnel checked the status of the individuals involved and cleared the roadway.
