Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Public Safety Dispatchers were contacted regarding a female subject that had become ill due to excessive alcohol consumption. The subject had consumed an unknown amount of beer and mixed drinks and was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment.

Warrant Arrest

Location:  3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

An officer was dispatched to the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard on the report of a suspicious female possibly trying to steal items from a business. Upon arrival, the officer contacted the reporting party who observed the female subject concealing multiple items in a bag from the make-up section. The reporting party also believed a male subject may be associated with the female. The male subject was outside the store in a nearby vehicle.

The officer made contact with the female subject. She initially provided an incorrect name.

Meanwhile, another officer located an unoccupied vehicle that matched the description from the reporting party. A registration check on the vehicle revealed it was stolen. The female subject was then detained in handcuffs. At the time, she provided the officer with her real name. A Records check revealed she had a $5,000 warrant.

SCPD was unable to locate the male subject. The female subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Resisting/Obstructing

Location:  3500 Block of El Camino Real

An officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration tab on the 3500 block of El Camino Real. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop. During the traffic stop, the male driver fled from the vehicle and the two female passengers remained in the vehicle.

SCPD units established a perimeter and the male driver was apprehended in the backyard of a nearby residence. He was apprehended without further incident. A Records check revealed the male driver had a suspended license and a no bail felony warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

One of the female passengers also had a warrant and was arrested.

Car Clout

Location: 3100 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard

Between 2045 hours and 2149 hours, an unattended vehicle was subject to a car clout on the 3100 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. An unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window and stole a laptop and school books, valued at $950. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Grand Theft

Location: 400 Block of El Camino Real

A resident on the 400 block of El Camino Real was victimized by a theft from their vehicle. An unknown suspect(s) stole a snowboard, skis, snow gear and a dash camera valued at approximately $2,000. The victim reported the theft to SCPD via an online police report.

Through investigation, two suspects were identified. Officers contacted the suspects and located the stolen property. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vehicle Theft

Location: Winchester Boulevard and Worthington Circle

An officer was dispatched to the area of Winchester Boulevard and Worthington Circle to investigate a report of a vehicle abandoned in the lanes of traffic. While en route, Public Safety Dispatchers advised the responding officer that three male juvenile subjects were seen fleeing on foot from the scene. Upon arrival, the officer located the vehicle unoccupied and running. The vehicle did not have keys in the ignition and appeared to be tampered with. It was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of San Jose earlier in the day.

Officers began to circulate the area and made contact with the subjects in the area of Winchester Boulevard and Neal Avenue. Immediately after they were contacted, one of the subjects fled on foot, jumping fences and running through neighborhoods. He was apprehended without further incident at Winchester Boulevard and Cadillac Drive. All three suspects were arrested.

Burglary

Location:  3300 Block of Olcott Street

Police units were dispatched to the 3000 block of Olcott Street on the report of an audible alarm activation. Upon arrival, officers could hear yelling, car doors slamming, an engine revving and could see broken glass. Officers set up a perimeter and located the suspect vehicle on Scott Boulevard as it fled toward San Tomas Expressway. The vehicle did not respond to the officer’s efforts to conduct a traffic enforcement stop.

Units pursued the vehicle until the vehicle ultimately crashed into a freshly plowed agricultural field off of Highway 152 in Gilroy. The two suspects in the car immediately gave up and were arrested without further incident. Evidence from the burglary was recovered.

The two suspects in the vehicle were booked in Santa Clara County Jail for burglary and evading. The Detective Bureau was notified of the incident. Further investigation is ongoing.
