The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.
Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Fatal Traffic Accident
Location: Monroe Street and Bowers Avenue
A fatal traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Monroe Street and Bowers Avenue. A 17-year old male, Santa Clara resident was driving an Acura Integra westbound on Monroe Street attempting to turn north on Bowers Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle. He collided with a Toyota Highlander that was stopped for the light in the number one lane of southbound Bowers Avenue. The force of the impact caused the Highlander to get pushed backwards into the front yard of a residence on the northwest corner of the intersection and tip over onto its passenger side.
The Highlander had four occupants inside and all were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the Acura was also transported, but later died as a result of his injuries.

Car Clout
Location: 3500 Block of Homestead Road
A victim parked a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot at approximately 1910 hours. Upon returning to the vehicle at approximates 2050 hours, the victim discovered the rear driver’s side passenger door window was smashed. A backpack, containing an iPad, was stolen from the rear seat area. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Suspicious Circumstances
Location: 1600 Block of Hood Court
Public Safety Dispatchers deployed officers to a possible shooting victim on the 1600 block of Hood Court. The caller reported being involved in an earlier disturbance at a liquor store. The caller added that during the altercation, two males produced handguns. While en route to the residence, the caller updated that one of the males had been shot.
Upon arrival, two subjects were contacted outside the residence. It was determined a shooting had not occurred and nobody was injured. Both individuals account of what took place varied significantly and they were uncooperative with investigating officers.
Officers made contact with a male subject on the 3500 block of Notre Dame Drive who may have been involved in the altercation and produced a handgun. Upon officer arrival, the subject was outside the residence in a parked vehicle occupied by three subjects. The vehicle was searched and firearms were not located.

Warrant Arrest
Location: Calle del Mundo and Lafayette Street
Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Calle Del Mundo as a result of an alarm sounding. A male suspect was contacted at the rear of the business. A Records check revealed the suspect had two outstanding warrants. He was arrested.

Driving Under the Influence
Location: Augustine Drive and Bowers Avenue
An officer responded to the area of Augustine Drive and Bowers Avenue on the report of a single vehicle roll over collision. According to the reporting party, a light pole was broken and lying next to the vehicle.
At the scene, the officer observed three male subjects standing near the overturned vehicle. The Fire Department was on scene treating the three subjects for injuries. All three subjects were occupants of the vehicle. While the officer was speaking to the subject who identified himself as the driver, the officer observed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. The driver did not perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests in a satisfactory manner. He was arrested.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery
Location: Montague Expressway and River Oaks Parkway
An officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound Montague Expressway. The officer lost sight of the vehicle as it passed Zanker Road where there is a bend in the roadway. As the officer rounded the bend, a cloud of dust could be seen. The suspect had lost control of the vehicle and crashed just west of River Oaks Parkway. The driver fled from the vehicle and was unable to be located.
The vehicle was determined to have been stolen. Due to the location, the San Jose Police Department conducted the traffic collision investigation (Case #18-012-0081). SCPD recovered the vehicle.

Stolen Vehicle
Location: 1000 Block of Garrity Way
Public Safety Dispatchers received a call from the 1000 block of Garrity Way regarding a vehicle stolen from a resident’s driveway. The victim had a tracking application and located the vehicle unoccupied on Avina Circle. The victim advised responding officers that the key hidden inside the vehicle was no longer there. The victim returned to the vehicle to the residence.

Stolen Vehicle (continued from 18-406)
At approximately 1157 hours, the victim discovered the vehicle had been stolen out of the driveway on a second occasion. SCPD located a vehicle matching the vehicle’s description on the 1300 block of Hope Drive. Two male juvenile subjects were near the vehicle and quickly entered the vehicle when they observed the officers.
The officers stopped behind the suspect vehicle and the juveniles fled on foot. Unfortunately, the suspect vehicle was not in park and rolled into the marked patrol vehicle. The juveniles were quickly apprehended and taken into custody. A Records check revealed one of the juveniles was on probation. The probationer was booked at Juvenile Hall and the other suspect was released to his mother.

Human Trafficking
Location: El Camino Real and Kiely Boulevard
An officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle that exited a motel parking lot on the El Camino Real without slowing down or stopping at the sidewalk and proceeding at a high rate of speed on El Camino Real. A vehicle traveling on El Camino Real had to slam on its brakes to avoid colliding with the subject vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by two male subjects.
A Records check revealed both subjects had outstanding felony warrants. The driver was also on probation with search terms. The officers conducted a probation search of the vehicle and the motel room, rented by the driver.
At the motel room, officers made contact with a 17-year old female subject. A Records check confirmed the juvenile was reported missing out of San Joaquin County. The investigation revealed the juvenile met the driver on social media through mutual friends. On 1/4/18, the juvenile ran away from home with the two male subjects. Over the next nine days, the subjects traveled to Santa Ana, Modesto, Manteca, San Jose and Santa Clara. According to the juvenile, the subjects paid for motel rooms from selling marijuana, and she was forced into prostitution activity.
The juvenile was reunited with her parents and the subjects were transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
