Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge. 

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the comprehensive list of arrests made.

Attempted Burglary                         Location: 500 Block of Laurelwood Avenue

An officer responded to a commercial burglary alarm on the 500 block of Laurelwood Avenue. The officer noticed a dirt motorcycle fleeing the area while pulling up on the scene. The officer recalled a recent memorandum regarding a burglar in the same beat riding a dirt motorcycle.

The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the dirt motorcycle however it fled. The officer pursued the dirt motorcycle until it entered the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail off Scott Boulevard, west of San Tomas Expressway. Police units quickly positioned themselves along the trail outlets, however, the suspect was not located.

Pimping and Pandering                             Location:  3400 Block of El Camino Real

Members of the Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted surveillance at a hotel on the 3400 block of El Camino Real based on information provided from a patrol officer. SET Detectives witnessed a male suspect entering several motel rooms.  The Detectives also observed several men drive into the parking lot, meet with male suspect and enter one of the many hotel rooms.  Based on the Detectives’ observations, they believed the suspect was operating a prostitution ring.

The Detectives conducted a Records check on the male suspect. It revealed he was on court probation with search and seizure clauses. The Detectives initiated a probation search of the associated rooms and contacted four females. A search of the rooms yielded controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and pepper spray.  The suspects were transported to the THF.  They were later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

Burglary                                             Location:  1500 Block of Creek Drive, San Jose

Special Enforcement Team (SET) Detectives conducted surveillance on a male suspect identified in a residential burglary that occurred in Santa Clara. Detectives followed the suspect, who was with another male subject, to a residence on the 1500 block of Creek Drive in San Jose. Detectives witnessed the two male suspects break into this residence and saw them exit with property from the residence before entering their vehicle and driving away. The Detectives initiated a traffic enforcement stop and found them to be in possession of stolen property. The suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Driving Under the Influence          Location: Benton Avenue and San Tomas Expressway

An officer observed a vehicle stopped in the number two lane of traffic with the male driver slumped over the steering wheel asleep. Officers made contact with the suspect who displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The suspect failed all four Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Drug Arrest                                       Location:  2900 Block of El Camino Real

Officers responded to a trespassing call to the rear parking lot of a business on El Camino Real.

They contacted a suspect who consented to a search of his person and vehicle.  The search of his

person yielded crystal methamphetamine and the search of his vehicle yielded additional

methamphetamine. The suspect then provided officers with a false name to conceal his

probation status as well as $25,000 in warrants.  He was taken into custody without incident and

transported to County Jail.

Resisting/Obstructing                     Location:  800 Block of El Camino Real

Officers responded to the area a motel on the 800 block of El Camino Real connected with the theft of a bicycle. The male suspect was seen entering a motel room by witnesses.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect exited the motel room with the bicycle and ignored commands from the officers. Instead, the suspect got on the bicycle and fled. While officers were taking the suspect into custody, he swung his arms at and kicked the officers. He was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Police Building for processing.

A search of his person yielded the cut bicycle lock, burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

Weapons                                           Location: San Rafael Avenue and Cabrillo Avenue

Public Safety Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting the sound of gunshots in the area of San Rafael Avenue and Cabrillo Avenue. Officers responded to the area and stopped two male suspects.

Upon contact, one of the suspects attempted to shake an officers hand when the officer noticed a large knife concealed up the sleeve of the suspect’s sweatshirt. The suspect was placed under arrest for the concealed dirk/dagger.
