Police Report

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

 Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Warrant Arrest – Felony

Location:  Santa Clara Street at Madison Street

An officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle fail to stop at a stop sign. The officer conducted an enforcement stop on the bicyclist near the intersection of Santa Clara Street and Madison Street.

A Records check revealed the subject had a no bail felony warrant out of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Armed Robbery

Location: Rotary Park, 1490 Don Avenue

An officer was dispatched to Rotary Park, located at 1490 Don Avenue, on the report of an armed robbery. An unknown suspect held a knife to the victim’s neck and demanded money. In fear, the victim presented the suspect with a wallet. The suspect took possession of the wallet, ran to an awaiting suspect vehicle and entered the front passenger seat. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The suspects remain at large.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 3700 Block of Lafayette Street

An unknown suspect(s) illegally entered a business on the 3700 block of Lafayette Street and stole a safe containing cash and a company checkbook. The total value of the items stolen is approximately $1,650.  The suspect(s) remain outstanding.

Tampering

Location: 1300 Block of Maryann Drive

An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Maryann Drive on the report of a vehicle that had been tampered with. The vehicle was last seen intact on 10/3/17 at approximately 2230 hours. On 10/4/17 at approximately 0740 hours, the victim discovered the driver side door handle had been pulled off, with the locking lever still attached. In addition, the ignition had been altered with tools rendering it inoperable. The vehicle was not missing any personal belongings. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Grand Theft

Location: 700 Block of Mathew Street

A victim placed a wallet, along with a backpack, on a set of bleachers inside a business on the 700 block of Mathew Street. When the victim went to leave, the wallet was missing. The wallet contained approximately $1,475.

The victim approached the manager and described a wallet that had been turned in to lost and found previously that evening. The victim opened the wallet and it contained $350. The manager reviewed video surveillance which captured the theft.

An officer made contact with the suspect via telephone. The male suspect admitted to taking the wallet. The suspect met the officer at the Police Building and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Residential Burglary

Location: 4200 Block of Davis Street

At approximately 2040 hours, a residential burglary occurred on the 4200 block of Davis Street.  The unidentified suspect(s) forced open a bathroom window and stole multiple items from within the residence. The unidentified suspect(s) fled the scene and are outstanding.

Warrant Arrest

Location:  Newhall Street at Morse Avenue

An officer witnessed two suspects, one male and one female, attempt to open mail boxes at an apartment complex.

A Records check of the female suspect revealed she had three warrants totaling $38,000 out of the Los Gatos, Campbell and Santa Clara Police Departments. A search of her person yielded several narcotics in prescription bottles that did not belong to the suspect. She was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Amber Alert Arrest

Location:  1000 Block of Clyde Avenue

At approximately 8:30pm, an Amber Alert was broadcasted from the San Francisco Police Department regarding a kidnapping of two children. The broadcast referenced three suspects considered armed and dangerous.

At approximately 9:15pm, one of the suspects contacted Santa Clara’s Public Safety Dispatchers and stated he was on the 1000 block of Clyde Avenue with the two children. Units responded to the area and set up the necessary precautions to take the suspect into custody peacefully. The suspect exited the residence with the two children without incident.

The children were returned to relatives and the suspect was turned over to the San Francisco Police Department. The vehicle was located and impounded. The other suspects were located and arrested in another jurisdiction.
