Santa Clara police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a traffic collision near the intersection of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Tyler Street around 12:19 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
At least one person was killed and another suffered life-threatening injuries when a pickup truck and SUV collided.
Emergency responders from the Santa Clara Fire Department (SCFD) said a 66-year-old man, most likely the driver of the SUV, was lying on the ground when they arrived. They administered first aid, and the man was transported to a local hospital, where he died.
A 65-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of the SUV. She was also treated for life-threatening injuries, but so far, there is no update on her condition.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 20-year-old man, was not injured. His passenger, a 19-year-old man, was injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the pickup truck stayed to speak to officers. They do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a part in this collision.
SCPD believes the pickup truck was traveling west on Stevens Creek Boulevard, just past the Lexus dealership and approaching Tyler Street, at a “high rate of speed.”
The SUV was traveling east on Stevens Creek Boulevard and making a left turn from the eastbound direction into a driveway.
That’s when the two vehicles collided.
All four people involved in the crash are residents of San Jose.
