Police Blotter

The Police Blotter highlights a partial list of incidents in the city and is distributed on a weekly basis. The Blotter provides the date, time, approximate location, a narrative summary of the incident, case number and the most serious arrest charge.

Meanwhile, the Arrest Log provides a timely, chronological summary of all of the arrests made by the Santa Clara Police Department. It includes the name of the suspect(s), date of birth, city in which they reside, arrest date, time, location, case number as well as all of the charge(s) associated with the arrest. This information, located on the Santa Clara Police Department’s home page (www.scpd.org), is updated daily and serves as the most comprehensive list of arrests made.

Vandalism – Felony

Location: Barcells Avenue and Pritchford Court
A male suspect was observed walking westbound on the 2700 block of Barcells Avenue kicking dents in the door panels of an unoccupied parked vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was determined the suspect had also kicked dents in a vehicle that was parked on the 700 block of Pritchard Court. The suspect was arrested for two counts of felony vandalism and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. The damage was estimated at $6,000.

Prostitution

Location: 2100 Block of Newhall Street
SCPD’s Nuisance Suppression Unit (NSU) was made aware of a potential residential brothel / massage business on the 2100 block of Newhall Street. NSU was able to locate a brothel being advertised online. The two female subjects were issued City of Santa Clara Administrative Citations, as was the operator. A Records check revealed no active business license / tax certificate. The utility holder to the residence and property manager is being notified.

Commercial Burglary

Location: 4300 Block of Great America Parkway
Officers responded to the 4300 block of Great America Parkway on the report of a commercial burglary. A delivery driver noticed the front door was pried open, the safe damaged and the business was ransacked. The suspect(s) remain at large.

Man with a Gun

Location: 3500 Block of El Camino Real
Officers responded to a restaurant on the 3500 block of El Camino Real on the report of a man with a gun. Public Safety Dispatchers had been informed that a victim was standing outside the business when a suspect pointed a gun and flashlight at the victim before fleeing the scene.

Officers set up a perimeter and prepared to search the businesses in Lawrence Square when a subject matching the description from the reporting party was spotted walking along Lawrence Expressway south of El Camino Real. The suspect was compliant to police officer requests and was taken into custody.

The juvenile suspect was carrying a Nerf plastic gun with a black flashlight taped to the muzzle end. He was transported to the Police Building, issued a citation and released to his mother.

Weapons Investigation

Location: Stevens Creek Boulevard and Kiely Boulevard
An officer was parked in a gas station parking lot at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Kiely Boulevard monitoring traffic. The officer observed three male subjects standing in the roadway fighting. One of the suspects was holding a handgun and fired 2-3 rounds. The officer immediately called for assistance and attempted to gain compliance from the suspects. The armed suspect threw the handgun near the grass area and fled the scene. The remaining two suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Given the location of the incident, both SCPD and the San Jose Police Department worked cooperatively to establish a perimeter and attempt to locate the outstanding suspect. The handgun and (2) spent casings were recovered at the scene. The third suspect remains at large.

Petty Theft

Location: 3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
Two female suspects entered Macy’s on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard and selected various articles of clothing. The suspects concealed the items inside their purses and shopping bags and then walked past open cash registers without attempting to pay for the items. The suspects were contacted outside the store by Macy’s Loss Prevention Agents, escorted to the Loss Prevention Office and SCPD was contacted. The total value of the recovered items was $535.37. The suspects were arrested.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Location: Orchard Parkway and W Trimble Road
An officer was traveling westbound on De La Cruz Blvd crossing over Highway 101 when a vehicle was observed with no lights. A Records check revealed the vehicle had expired registration. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop near Orchard Parkway and W Trimble Road.

Upon contact with the male driver, the suspect admitted to being on probation and possessing drug paraphernalia. It was learned the suspect was also uninsured. He was arrested.

Warrant Arrest

Location: Steve Carli Park, 1045 Los Padres Boulevard
An officer, in the area of Arlene Drive and Los Padres Boulevard, was flagged down by an adult female stating there was a “strange” lady inside the restroom in Steve Carli Park. An officer made contact with the suspect to conduct a welfare check. A Records check revealed the suspect had multiple outstanding warrants. As a result, she was placed under arrest.

While being transported to the Police Building, the suspect complained that she was having a medical issue. The Santa Clara Fire Department responded to the temporarily holding facility before she was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. After being medically cleared, she was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
