Mission College Concert Series Wraps Up

Mission College in Santa Clara will host its final free concert series of the summer on Wednesday, August 10, as part of City of Santa Clara and Ukrainian Family Night.

The featured artist will be Bay Area vocalist Masha Campagne, who will bring the timeless sounds of Brazil to the Mission College Plaza. Her soulful portrayals of Brazilian bossa & samba effectively convey the concept of ‘Saudade;’ for the intimacy & wistfulness of her performances. Masha Campagne will take the stage at 6 p.m.

Also on hand will be the Mission College Food Truck, the Santa Clara Library’s Bookmobile, members of DARE and Santa Clara Fire Department’s Sparky, the mascot. Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket/chair. No alcohol is allowed at the venue. Always dog-friendly and families are encouraged to attend.

Families from Ukraine are invited to attend as well to enjoy a free concert and meal upon check-in as a night out on Mission.

The Mission College Concert Series started on June 15 with a performance by drummer Brian Andres and his Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel. It was a summer-long series that also featured Grammy Award-winning musicians.

Latin Jazz musician Ray Obiedo performed on June 29 with singer Lean Tysse. They brought a unique blend of funk, jazz and soul to the Mission College campus.

On July 13, the Salinas-based Qiensave rocked Mission College with its high-energy dance music. The five-person band featured a combination of rhythm guitars, keyboards, drums, bass and vox instruments.

Following Qiensave on the Mission College stage was Oakland-based soul singer Lilan Kane. Her sultry voice serenaded Mission College Concert Series attendees. Kane is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and has performed at several venues across the Bay Area, including Yoshi’s and the San Francisco Jazz Festival.
