On Jan. 13 Taylor Yamane was crowned Miss Santa Clara and Natalie DeSousa was crowned Miss Santa Clara’s Outstanding Teen. At the same event Miss Silicon Valley, Miss Silicon Valley’s Outstanding Teen, and Miss San José were also crowned.
According to the Miss Santa Clara website, the Miss Santa Clara Organization is an official local preliminary competition to the Miss California and Miss America competitions. There is no fee to enter, and every contestant on stage for the January competition will receive a scholarship prize. The winners go on to compete in the Miss California and Miss California’s Outstanding Teen competitions in June. They gave out $18,500 in scholarships this year.

The Mayor of Santa Clara City, Ms. Lisa M. Gillmor, awarded the Certificate of Special Mayoral Recognition on behalf of Santa Clara City Council to the first Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF) organized from July d to h 2018 in recognition for dedication to the culture of invention, innovation and technology.
It was an honor for me to be a judge and support these amazing women! After this experience it was very clear how much the youth get out of the organization. I am proud to have met them and look forward to seeing great things from these young ladies!
