Minimum Wage Increases to $16.05 In Sunnyvale January 1, 2020

Effective Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, the new minimum wage rate in Sunnyvale will be $16.05 per hour. In 2016, the Sunnyvale City Council adopted an ordinance increasing Sunnyvale’s minimum wage per the following schedule:

  • $11.00 on July 1, 2016
  • $13.00 on January 1, 2017
  • $15.00 on January 1, 2018
  • $15.65 on January 1, 2019 (Consumer Price Index increase)

The ordinance includes an annual adjustment based on inflation that began on Jan. 1, 2019. Any potential increase will correspond to the prior year’s Consumer Price Index based on the San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward regional index as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.
