Trying one trick and then another is not fooling Santa Clara voters. Mayor Lisa Gillmor has deployed her paid support group, the Santa Clara police union PAC to help her candidates win a council seat.
They are walking precincts, filling mailboxes with fliers, bending the truth, and pushing outright lies. All of this as quid pro quo for Gillmor’s delivery of mind-blowing salaries and benefits delivered when she and her council allies controlled decisions.
Now, they are “voluntarily” doing payback time.
Is this action by the Santa Clara PD even ethical?
Voters will decide that when they vote. A vote to retain your current council members is a definite answer.
Or will you allow Mayor Gillmor to get her foot in the door once again? She has picked candidates who will be completely dependent on her for their seats. As we saw between 2016 and 2020, a Gillmor-dependent council isn’t beneficial for residents and taxpayers.
Gillmor’s last council majority burned through a multi-million dollar surplus faster than Elon Musk’s latest rocket.
Santa Clara’s current council restored fiscal sanity, cleaned house of overpaid and under-qualified Gillmor appointees and brought to the city professional and qualified replacements.
Why would Santa Clara voters have any desire to repeat Gillmor’s anomaly? Allowing Mayor Gillmor to get even one foot back in the door is a civic nightmare in the making.
Suds Jain, Anthony Becker and Kevin Park have worked together with Karen Hardy and Raj Chahal to deliver. These council members have kept the door shut on an out-of-control Mayor, made rational decisions, and safeguarded taxpayers’ money.
With the retirement of Council Member Kathy Watanabe, a three-way race for her seat is taking place on the Northside. Admittedly, this writer is prejudiced. My pick for this seat is Harbir Bhatia. She keeps her word, is objective and listens. Harbir is bright, energetic and a doer.
She will bring another voice of reason and collaborate with her colleagues instead of picking fights with them.
Harbir is also just the right candidate to keep another Gillmor foot from getting in the door.

I’m so done with the recommendations from the POA and Fire, lost all respect for their involvement in our elections, they should be all fired and I’m not voting for one candidate they put forward or endorse. I never call on the PD any more its a waste of time sadly they are just an app now.
I held my nose and voted, ignoring the POA and SCFD ads. What really upsets me is how the Gillmor cartel and their hatred have ruined Santa Clara.
