Malaya opened Aug. 6 in the former Mexicali Grill location at the Mercado. The restaurant focuses on Southeast Asian flavors and showcases the cultural influences that have molded Malaysia.

Barry’s Bootcamp
Santana Row, San Jose
Barry’s Bootcamp opened a 4,454 square foot studio at Santana Row in September. This is the first Barry’s Bootcamp in the South Bay, although there are additional locations in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Burlingame.

Nick the Greek
2002 El Camino Real, Santa Clara
With plenty of locations throughout the Bay Area, Nick the Greek opened its newest location at the Santa Clara Town Centre on Sept. 5.
Gong Cha
Santa Clara Square, Suite 110
Gong Cha specializes in tea, coffee and juices. The new Santa Clara restaurant is now open. This is the company’s first Santa Clara location.
SomiSomi
Valley Fair (in front of Macy’s)
SomiSomi opened at Valley Fair on Sept. 5. SomiSomi serves Korean-inspired soft serve in fish-shaped cones and taiyaki. Guests choose a flavor, filling and topping based on the choices provided.

Silicon Valley Judo
2790 El Camino Real, Santa Clara
Although not a new business, Silicon Valley Judo moved into the Moonlite Center and began operating at the end of July. Silicon Valley Judo offers preschoolers through adult-aged students Kodokan-style Judo classes. Beginner through competitive training classes are available.

Santana Row, San Jose
Men’s apparel brand TravisMathew recently opened its first Northern California store. The store features classic arcade style gaming consoles and ping pong tables and carries the brand’s exclusive California capsule product.
Aces Icehouse
400 N. Saratoga Ave., Santa Clara
A new dining experience is now open at the Pruneridge Golf Course. Minimal information is available, but large banners hang on the corner of Saratoga and Pruneridge announcing the restaurant and bar is now open.

Rowing studio Row House is set to open a location at Santa Clara Town Center. Row House offers a 45-minute low-impact workout designed to build muscle, burn calories and strengthen core muscles.

Seapot, an all-you-can-eat conveyor belt hot pot, will take over the space recently vacated by Black Angus.
Tapsilog Bistro
Homestead Road and Scott Boulevard
Tentatively set to open in January 2020, Tapsilog Bistro will open its second, Tapsilog Cantina, in Santa Clara. The restaurant offers comfort food and simplified Filipino cuisine and operates a location at 819 W Hamilton Ave. in Campbell.

Santana Row
Hot 8 Yoga will soon open its first membership-based Northern California studio providing hot yoga classes to new and established yogis.
Pacific Catch
CityLine Sunnyvale
A soon-to-open Pacific Catch at Santa Clara Square will join the soon-to-open Pacific Catch at Sunnyvale’s CityLine in 2020. The Pacific Catch menu explores styles and ingredients found throughout the Pacific and offers a variety of Fresh Catch specials highlighting specific regions in the Pacific and seasonal offerings.

Urban Plates, serving dishes made from scratch, will open a new restaurant at Sunnyvale’s CityLine in 2020. Sunnyvale’s spot will join Bay Area Urban Plates locations in Dublin and Pleasant Hill.
