In the afternoon of March 13, the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) arrested Gilberto David Nietoromo, 41, near Industrial Way and S. Vasco Road in Livermore, charging him with seven felonies, according to an SCPD press release.

Those felonies include sexual assault, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, false imprisonment and meeting with a minor.

Police also charged Nietoromo with four misdemeanors, including harmful matter sent with intent to seduce a minor, arranging a meeting with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A few days prior, on March 10, investigators met with the victim and their mother at their home. Nietoromo allegedly used social media to lure the victim to the parking lot of Buchser Middle School, 1111 Bellomy St. in Santa Clara, on two occasions.

Once there, Nietoromo allegedly raped the victim in his vehicle both times.

This investigation remains open, with police believing there is at least one other victim in San Jose.

Lt. Eric Lagergren, SCPD’s public information office, wrote in an email that because of “victim confidentiality,” police were unable to release additional information about the case. He directed additional inquiries to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

An email to the DA’s office to get further specifics about the case went unanswered.

SCPD is asking any possible additional victims or witnesses to contact Detective Dave Britton at (408) 615-4821 or email him at djbritton@santaclaraca.gov. Anyone with evidence and/or additional information is also asked to contact Detective Britton.

Alternatively, those who wish to remain nameless can leave a message on the SCPD anonymous tip line at (408) 615-4TIP (4847).
