Little League Heartbroken over Vandalized Fields, Volunteers Jump Into Action

On Sunday, Feb. 18 the Briarwood Little League Baseball Facebook page shared that their fields, located at 3360 Cabrillo Ave., Santa Clara, had been vandalized.

Photos alongside the post show blue spray paint on the cement, bleachers, storage shed and fence.

The little league often holds volunteer clean up days to care for the facilities. Their previous cleaning day had been just the day before on Feb. 17.

The Facebook post has been shared almost 50 times. It reads:

“We pour our heart and soul into always trying to make our fields better and better. It breaks our hearts to wake up and find that our facilities have been vandalized. If you have any information that leads to charges being filed against the individual(s) that committed this act of vandalism, please send us an IM. The president of the league is offering a $500 reward from his own pocket.”

According to the comments, it seems that some volunteers leapt into action to help clean up the mess.

Another Facebook post published later on Sunday reads:

“The amount of support and overwhelming kindness and love for our kids, our facilities, our league and ultimately our community is a true blessing. We can’t thank all the folks that came out today enough. The Ramsey Family, The Catuna Family, SCPD and others were quickly on hand to clean up. The Briarwood Community all says Thank you!!!”

Photos alongside the second post show volunteers cleaning the spray paint and photos of spotless cement after their elbow grease.

If anyone has information regarding the vandalism, please reach out to the Little League (briarwood_baseball@yahoo.com) or the Santa Clara Police Department.
