Light June for Santa Clara City Council

Santa Clara City Council members maintained busy schedules throughout June but only had a handful of notable meetings to record.

 

Mayor Lisa Gillmor

Mayor Lisa Gillmor visited Izumo, Japan June 5-12 for a Sister Cities delegation visit. Her only other meeting of interest occurred June 24 when she met with Republic Metropolitians’s Bob Mendelsohn, Republic Metropolitian’s consultants John DeRiggi and former Council Member Kevin Moore and attorney Rob Mezzetti about the Republic Metropolitan project.

Vice Mayor Patricia Mahan (District 5)
Vice Mayor Patricia Mahan only attended public meetings and events in June.

 

Kathy Watanabe (District 1)

Council Member Kathy Watanabe began her notable meetings on June 4 when she and resident Justin Chander met to discuss employment opportunities. Three days later she met with resident Tom Freitas regarding “airport roundtable,” but no additional information was provided on what this might be. Watanabe had a meeting with Yost Advisors’ Greg Yost and Christian Pellecchia of Rudolph & Sletten about Great America on June 13. The following day she met with Cass Langer of Congressman Ro Khanna’s office to discuss district updates. She, in addition to Council Member Debi Davis, had an “Icheon City Delegation Visit” with members of the Silicon Valley Korean America Federation, Santa Clara Sister Cities Association President Tedra Nikolai and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Tino Silva on June 17.

On June 19 she met with for a Gateway Crossings site visit with Hunter Properties’ Director of Development Josh Rupert. She ended her month on June 26 by meeting with Matrix Consulting Group’s John Scruggs regarding illegal street racing and sideshows.

 

Raj Chahal (District 2)

Outside of a Sister Cities delegation visit to Izumo, Japan June 8-11, Council Member Raj Chahal only attended public meetings and events in June.

 

Karen Hardy (District 3)

Council Member Karen Hardy had only one meeting of note: a June 26 meeting with Scruggs regarding illegal street racing and sideshows.

 

Teresa O’Neill (District 4)

Council Member Teresa O’Neill had a handful of notable meetings in June. On June 19, she met with residents Adam Thompson, Rob Mayer and Ian Champeny about the Gateway Crossings project. On June 25, she met with Scruggs regarding illegal street racing and later that day met with resident Thomas Monari about developments on the Freedom Circle project. The following day she had a Gateway Crossings site visit with Rupert and an introductory meeting with Janice Bitters, the former Silicon Valley Business Journal journalist who now writes for San Jose Spotlight. That day she also had a meeting regarding Innovation Zone with Council Member Davis, San Jose Vice Mayor Chappie Jones, San Jose Council Policy and Legislative Director Cassidy Kohl and San Jose Senior Council Assistant Raaina Mohsen.

 

Debi Davis (District 6)

Council Member Debi Davis attended a number of public meetings and events in June, however, she had two meetings of note: a June 24 meeting with residents Rich Bonito and Howard Meyers about the El Caminos Specific Plan and a June 26 meeting with Rupert about the Gateway Crossings project.
