We could help our children from falling through the cracks by using the state’s budget surplus to help low-income California families. If we could provide $2,000 per child, it would cost the state less than $5 billion. Many Low-income families are already suffering the consequences of the recently-expired monthly federal Child Tax Credit which in the past helped reduce child poverty by 33% in California. Since the Child Tax Credit has expired, we have seen dramatic increases in Child poverty (especially with Black and Latino/Latinx children) while the price of basic goods like food and gas have sky rocketed. Now more than ever we can radically reduce child poverty with tax credits targeted to low-income families. Please Governor Newsom and the California Legislature choose to help our kids and families from serious hardship. Thank you!
