Mr. Barber’s editorial about those who don’t celebrate Christmas was pretty accurate, but let’s take a moment to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. Harken back to when you watched the Charlie Brown Christmas Special and a disillusioned Charlie Brown asks Linus, “So what’s Christmas all about anyway?” Without missing a beat Linus quotes Luke 2:10b -11 “for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” “That’s what Christmas all about Charlie Brown.”
Gifts exchanged on Christmas are meant to be a reminder of the most selfless gift ever given to mankind… a redeemer for all people. One who forgives us, reconciles us to God and promises everlasting life.
May God reveal himself to all those who don’t yet know that all-encompassing love of Christ this coming year.
