I’m writing in response to the recent West Valley College lockdown due to the gun concerns. It’s deeply concerning that incidents such as this are becoming all too common in our schools and colleges across the country. This begs the question: why are schools so easily accessible to outsiders?
As a society, we need to take immediate action to protect our students and teachers. This includes implementing more protective measures during school hours. I believe that schools should consider increasing the number of security personnel and carefully screening all outside visitors to ensure that no one with malicious intentions can harm our students and educators.
It is a critical time that we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. We must not let incidents like these become a norm like a traffic report. Let’s take all possible steps to prevent them from happening again in the future.
