Letter From Spencer Hinkle

IS THIS A JOKE?

I am embarrassed to say that I am a citizen of the City of Santa Clara! Last week many teachers in the Santa Clara Unified School System were given notice that they would not be rehired next year including all the librarians and the music teachers. Given that California has a budget deficit of 26 billion dollars, we should be funding the basic operation of our schools, not sports stadiums. The mayor and the city council of Santa Clara should do the right thing and simply send the taxpayer’s hard earned Redevelopment Agency money directly to the state general fund to properly pay for our schools. My thanks to council members Jamie McLeod and Will Kennedy for their concern and good judgment regarding this matter.
