Letter from Sarah Hedges

I would appreciate your help in correcting the misinformation printed in Mr. Solis’s letter. He stated that in 2009 a $138.00 parcel tax was passed in Santa Clara to help cover short falls in the school budget. This Measure DID NOT pass. The $84 parcel tax that is being requested in Measure A will be the ONLY one that Santa Clara residents will be paying to cover short falls in the school budgets.

Through careful management and hard decisions, the district kept things going. However, reserves are depleted; the system has been cut to the bone. This year, children are losing 5 days of education, and teachers are taking salary cuts, while the State does not help. Santa Clara children need Measure A to pass
