Letter from Nick Dellaporta

The 49ers have shown that they can be civic-minded and generous to communities through volunteerism and philanthropy. It is ironic and disappointing, then, that they are suing Santa Clara County’s Oversight Board to try to keep $30 million that now should belong to the county due to the dissolution of Santa Clara’s RDA. The county wants to use this money to help its citizens. The 49ers arguably have greater financial resources than the county and yet they are demanding that this money is theirs and greedily disregarding where it is needed most. The 49ers should prove to Silicon Valley that they really are civic-minded and generous by allowing the county to keep the $30 million to use for all people living in Silicon Valley.
