As Santa Clarans, we should be ashamed of what is going on here. Schools, the library, and city services will be taking furlough days, and yet the most important thing that our city council is spending time and OUR money on is the 49ers stadium. Have we learned nothing from the sub-prime loan fiasco? Why do we want $850 million in additional debt? Where will we be 3 years from now with this additional debt and the risk of no additional revenue? There are several already established venues without $850 million in loans nearby that this stadium will have to compete with for non-NFL bookings. This didn’t make financial sense last year at $450 million and it makes even less now.
