William F. “Bill” Bailey, Treasurer for the “Santa Clara Plays Fair” group had a letter critical of the proposed Santa Clara 49er stadium, published in another local newspaper.
Mr. Bailey closed his letter by writing: “Now, thanks to SB 43, the 49ers have full power to select the design-build general contractor for a stadium our city is paying millions of dollars for”.
It would seem to those unfamiliar with the stadium proposal that the city of Santa Clara was fully funding the cost of the project. It should have read something like: the millions of dollars our city is paying “TOWARD” the stadium. To do otherwise is not playing fair.
