Letter From Danielle Leonard

In Response to Cyberbullying(May 2011, Issue 20)

These days, information is accessible to almost anybody. With the internet, information is more available than ever before, making privacy scarce. One can expose themselves without even knowing it on social networks, such as Facebook. Margaret Lavin makes a strong point that now information can be streamed through online video games. I strongly agree that parents and their children need to use discretion when it comes to information being revealed. Parents need to teach their children the importance of privacy and security. Systems and software such as Reputation.com and MyChild are great ways to keep control of what’s being exposed from your computer. It is extremely dangerous when the wrong information gets into the hands of the wrong people, and that cannot be stressed enough.
