Environment and Earthquakes – Letter to the Editor

Last week, California experienced two major earthquakes which coincidentally occurred in areas known for fracking–a process for injecting fluids into the rocks for high pressure. Although seismologists claim that fracking was not the cause of these earthquakes, fracking may have contributed to it. Last year, EOS, featured an article from the Journal of Geophysical Research, that said earthquakes may be the result of fracking than we thought.
For this reason, California needs to conduct more research before it continues to promote fracking. Our lives may depend on it.
