As an alum of SCUSD schools and as a former SCUSD school board student representative for Wilcox H.S. (2014-2016), I strongly endorse Andrew Knaack for SCUSD school board. He has a strong commitment to serving marginalized communities, addressing the technological divide holistically, and ensuring that our district has equitable mental health resources and culturally inclusive education. As a woman of color, Ethnic Studies would have been a life-changing addition to my SCUSD education, and Andrew supports offering Ethnic Studies options at the high school level. Students want to see their backgrounds reflected in their district leadership. If elected, Andrew would be the only trustee who is Asian-American-identified, Millennial, and an SCUSD alum. SCUSD’s mission is “to prepare students of all ages and abilities to succeed in an ever-changing world.” Andrew is a bridge-builder and change-maker that can uplift that mission in an intentional way.
