Jazz-Charged Evening at Triton

While it’s always fun and enjoyable to listen to live music under the stars at the Pavilion in Central Park, when the weather isn’t quite warm enough, Triton Museum plays host.  Friday, April 13 saw an evening of jazz featuring the Charged Particles.

The Charged Particles have performed for over a quarter century in the Bay Area, across the country and around the world. Those not familiar with jazz, the names of the band members might not seem familiar but a quick look online will have any jazz fan jumping out of their chairs at the chance to see and hear the band live.

Members of the band include drummer Jon Krosnick, bass player Aaron Germain, keyboardist Murray Low and saxophonist Tod Dickow. Dickow has joined the Charged Particles in a tribute to Michael Brecker, one of the most important musicians in the history of jazz.

Each member of the Particles brings years of experience, love and more than enough musical talent to win over even the most ardent self-described “not a fan of jazz.”  Low has been a fixture in the Bay Area Jazz circles for over 30 years and is one of the area’s favorite jazz keyboardists. Krosnick performed with Chick Corea and has an extensive background. Germain, also with an extensive background, has well over 20 years of experience. Dickow leads the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, a 16-piece Big Band featuring the top players from around the Bay Area.

The Particles have released two CDs, with their second, Sparks, being named one of the eight must-hear jazz releases of the year by The Other Paper.  For more information on the Charged Particles, visit their website—www.chargedparticles.com.

The City of Santa Clara’s Cultural Commission presents free Friday Night Live performances throughout the year.
