Headen-Inman House Special Event Nov. 6

The Headen-Inman House, a City-owned historic house, built in 1913 and moved to its present site at 1509 Warburton (at Don Ave.) in 1986 has served since 1987 as headquarters for the Santa Clara Arts & Historical Consortium (SCA&HC) which oversees a couple of Museum rooms within the house and publishes The Echo to promote the activities of arts, cultural, and historical groups in Santa Clara that are organizational members of the Consortium. Although closed during the COVID pandemic, this past year SCA&HC has tried, when volunteers available, to open the Headen-Inman House on the first Sunday of the month from 1-3 p.m. so visitors can get a mini-tour of the first floor of the building and see some of the historical artifacts on display in the house.

On Sunday, November 6th from 1-3 p.m. SCA&HC will hold a special Open House. Besides the usual opportunity to visit and tour the house, there will be costumed docents, one of whom will talk about what was happening in Santa Clara in 1913 the year the house was built.  Another will be there to promote the upcoming Santa Clara Historic Home Tour which will be held in December, and there may also be costumed docents to talk about the City’s other Museum, the Harris Lass House and The Santa Clara Woman’s Club Adobe since The Adobe was purchased by the Woman’s Club in 1913 to serve as their clubhouse.

Finally, there will be informational and membership brochures for the various arts and historical organizations affiliated with the SCA& HC.  Learn about what other arts, historical groups and small museums are also located in Santa Clara.  Anyone attending will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a couple of complimentary tickets to see the current play being performed by The Santa Clara Players, an arts group which is also an organizational member of the Consortium and uses an upstairs room in the Headen-Inman House as a dressing room.
