Google Leases Space at Sunnyvale’s Moffett Park

According to a spokesperson for the tech giant Google, the company has signed new leases at 1020 and 1050 Enterprise Way in Sunnyvale. Google will now occupy all six buildings at Moffett Place, the Technology Corners building at Moffett Park and all of Moffett Gateway. The combined square footage of the new leased buildings on Enterprise Way totals about 500,000 square feet, a huge real estate deal that commenced in 2019.

The deal was struck with one of the largest commercial property owners in Silicon Valley, the Jay Paul Company that developed the buildings. The previous tenants included Microsoft and GoDaddy. The campus is located near the Highway 101 and SR 237 junction, as well as the Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course and a number of hotels.

Google continues to expand its Silicon Valley footprint with its lease in 2019 of over 700,000 square feet of space within a four-building office campus still being developed on Brokaw Road in San Jose. Also, last year the tech giant purchased 16 acres in Sunnyvale from NetApp, nearby several other properties that Google owns.

Google is also working on a campus project on a 40.5-acre site on Caribbean Drive in Sunnyvale. The proposal seeks to demolish 13 existing buildings and construct two, five-story office buildings totaling over one million square feet. A public comment period for the project’s Draft Traffic Environmental Impact Report ended on Jan. 16.

This month Google parent company, Alphabet Inc., increased its valuation by $8 billion, bringing the company’s market value to the $1 trillion mark. It’s now one of three U. S. tech companies that have reached that mark, sharing the distinction with Apple and Microsoft. In December, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai took over the role of Alphabet’s CEO from Larry Page.
