There are plenty of Fourth of July events around the Bay Area to keep you busy, but here’s a look at some of them closer to home, but sometimes travel can be frustrating. Both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara are trying to make it easy for you to stay in the community, while still celebrating the fourth with your neighbors.
Sunnyvale July 4 Drone Show
The City of Sunnyvale is going without fireworks this year and replacing them with a drone show. People are invited to gather at Baylands Park at 999 East Caribbean Drive in Sunnyvale to listen to music, have a picnic dinner and then watch the drone show.
Free parking opens at 6:30 and the DJ starts spinning at 7 p.m. The drone show starts at 9:15 or when it starts to get dark. The show is expected to last about 10 minutes.
Sunnyvale reminds people to bring a flashlight or headlamp so they can safely walk back to their cars after the show. Baylands Park will close immediately following the show.
Santa Clara 4th of July Celebration
The City of Santa Clara will do things a little differently this year. Instead of hosting the annual celebration at Central Park, the City will host a Community Celebration at Mission College.
There will be all the trimmings of the previous events at Central Park, as well as plenty of free parking close to the event.
The City says attendees will be able to witness the fireworks at nearby Great America from the Mission College plaza. The show is expected to start at 9:40 p.m.
For more information about the City’s Fourth of July plans, visit the City’s website. There you’ll find information about the live entertainment, food options and more.
Other South Bay Fireworks Shows
If you want to ride some rollercoasters before taking in the fireworks, then California’s Great America is the place to be. There will be a fireworks show at the Santa Clara theme park at 9:40 p.m. You will need to pay admission to watch the show from inside the park.
