Dave Delozier’s Three Decades of Community Honored by Mission City Community Fund

Life-long Santa Clara resident and local businessman Dave Delozier is the 2011 recipient of the Mission City Community Fund’s (MCCF) George Burdick Small Business Award. Owner of Peterson’s Insurance, Delozier is the third generation of his family to operate this Santa Clara family business.

The annual award, given at the MCCF’s annual dinner, recognizes local businesspeople whose contributions enhance the quality of life in the Santa Clara community.

Despite the demands of operating a business, Delozier has always made community service a personal priority. He’s served Santa Clara as a sports coach, City Council member, Chamber of Commerce board member and past president, Santa Clara Rotary Club member and past president, MCCF board member, and PAL board member. Delozier is also a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents Association.

Delozier is probably best known to city employees and residents through his work on the Parks and Recreation and Planning Commissions, and as a two-term City Council member. He is also known for his role in launching the highly successful September Art & Wine Festival in Central Park – an event that benefits many local non-profits. With former community leader Tom Barrett, Delozier was recognized by the State of California for the pair’s success in creating the popular festival.

After more than 30 years of community service, Delozier continues to be a community dynamo. Currently, Delozier chairs the City’s Charter Review Committee reviewing the Santa Clara City Council election system – Delozier’s third Charter Review Committee – and is currently on the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassador Committee.

Delozier also coaches for the Santa Clara West Side Pony Baseball League and the Santa Clara high school junior varsity baseball team. And despite his busy schedule, Delozier always finds time to tackle community projects for the Santa Clara Rotary Club.

Delozier and his wife Heidi have been married thirty-three years and have two grown children, Jamie and Robbie.

The Mission City Community Fund annual dinner, dance and auction will be held Saturday evening Nov. 5, 2011 at the Santa Clara Convention center. For tickets, visit www.missioncityfund.org or call Yvette Sessions at (408) 727-5365.
