Want to talk to the people who represent you in the State Legislature? You can without making a trip to Sacramento.

State Senator Bob Wieckowski’s staff holds office hours for constituents the second Wednesday of every month, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Santa Clara City Library on Homestead. Walk-ins are welcome, said Wieckowski Aid Jeff Barbosa, but appointments are recommended and can be made by calling 510-794-3900 or by e-mailing senator.wieckowski@senate.ca.gov.

Wieckowski had been a leader on a consumer issues in the state legislature. He has introduced legislation bills to increase the availability of legal services to low-income Californians, reduce the burden of student loan debt, protect workers and consumers from abusive arbitration practices and provide tax incentives for small businesses.

Last September Wieckowski authored a bill allowing the state Department of General Services to modify the terms of the 2006 property sale with Santa Clara Housing Authority, permitting CORE Companies’ agrihood development at 90 N. Winchester (formerly BAREC). Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill on Sept. 26, 2016.
