Concerts in the Park – Orquesta Latin Heat

The Summer Concerts in the Park continued to turn up the heat and get people on their feet dancing. On Friday night, July 22, the Concerts in the Park series continued with the return of Orquesta Latin Heat, a very popular Salsa band. Heat performed last year to a large crowd, but this year’s crowd easily topped 450 people, making it one of the best well-attended concerts in the Concerts in the Park series.

Judging how well a band is received by the audience can normally be a daunting task. But not always. When nearly all of the sidewalk area in front and around the stage is packed with people dancing, it’s easy to see when a band has a connection with their audience. And that’s exactly what Orquesta did. The entire time they were playing, easily more than 100 people were out of their chairs dancing to the music.

While saying Orquesta Latin Heat is Salsa band is technically true, Orquesta is so much more than that. The 10-member strong band features a strong rhythm section, authentic Latin percussion and a three-piece horn section. Orquesta played a wide variety of music raining from red hot salsa, to Latin Jazz to songs from Puerto Rico.
