Burglary

On Oct. 2, at about 3 a.m., officers responded to an interrupted burglary in the 3100 block of Cabrillo Ave. Investigators learned that Ignacio Aguilar Maldonado forced open a screen from an open kitchen window of a residence. Maldonado was confronted by female and male occupants who were inside the home. The 54-year-old male victim was confronted by Maldonado and was stabbed several times. The female occupant of the home was not injured.

Maldonado fled from the home and was located nearby hiding in shrubbery. He was taken into custody by officers and will be later booked into county jail. The male victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Earlier, at about 2:15 a.m., investigators also learned of an assault, which occurred on Calabazas Blvd. just north on El Camino Real. In that assault, the male suspect described as a Hispanic male in his 20s with a light complexion, mustache, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt approached a 49-year-old female who was sleeping inside her vehicle. The suspect knocked on the window and female opened the window at which point the suspect reached inside and assaulted the female with a knife. The female screamed for help and the suspect fled. The female then drove herself to a local hospital where she is expected to survive her injuries.

  • Our Santa Clara Police Officers are diligent and deserving of our respect and gratitude. Similar to the life of a Teacher their minds do not stop caring or thinking about the job even when off duty.
    To remember our brave fallen officers with this event is admirable!
