West Valley College President Bradley J. Davis, J.D has been chosen as Chancellor for the West Valley-Mission Community College District (WVMCCD).
Davis is one of the longest serving presidents in the college’s history and has been with the District for over a decade. He will oversee WVMCCD that encompasses both Mission College in Santa Clara and West Valley College in Saratoga. He follows Chancellor Patrick E. Schmitt, Ph.D., who recently retired after a seven-year tenure with the District.
“The citizens and students we serve will definitely benefit from Brad’s leadership” said WVMCCD Board President Anne Kepner. “We recognize there is opportunity for growth within our district, particularly in Santa Clara and at Mission College. As we experience this new growth, we will benefit from Brad’s innovative thinking and natural ability to collaborate and develop quality partnerships within the community.”
During Davis’ time at West Valley College and with the District, he has contributed to shaping the college’s commitment to equity and diversity, helped launch a free-tuition program (similar to Mission College’s “Mission First” program) and expanded educational opportunities and support services for veterans. He has partnered with various organizations throughout Silicon Valley to help the growing number of students who face food insecurity, mental health issues and housing challenges. Davis has also championed fundraising efforts for other projects, including academic scholarships for students.
“I have been fortunate to be immersed in improving educational opportunities for our students,” said Davis. “I can think of no higher calling than to serve our District while helping meet the educational, business and community needs of the Valley.”
Some of these educational and community-based needs are being met as Davis, along with Mission College President Daniel Peck, oversee new and renovative building projects at both Mission and West Valley funded by Measure W.
“Brad Davis has a passion for education and for our District,” said Peck. “I have seen first-hand how he’s been able to cultivate quality relationships, which in turn, bring new opportunities for our students as well as for the community, both beneficial to our college, as we prepare for additional growth.”

I am deeply disappointed by the leadership of Chancellor Bradley Davis. As a parent of a child who attended the Mission College Child Development Center—part of the West Valley-Mission Community College District—I expected fair treatment, accountability, and professionalism from those in charge. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.
Our child was mistreated at the preschool, including incidents where staff pushed our child, blamed him for things he didn’t do, and failed to intervene when he was harmed by another child. When we raised these concerns, we were met with defensiveness and ultimately punished for speaking up: the center terminated our child's enrollment without justification, and failed to provide documentation or follow through on promised support explanations.
We escalated the issue through the proper channels, including the district, but found no meaningful accountability or oversight from Chancellor Davis. As the district's top leader, he is responsible for ensuring that families and students are treated with fairness and respect. Instead, we experienced a system that protects itself rather than the children and families it is supposed to serve.
If this is the standard of care and leadership upheld by Chancellor Davis, then it raises serious concerns about the district’s priorities. Our family lost trust not only in the child development center, but in the entire leadership structure of this District.
