The body of Ian Powers, 32, has been recovered from a San Jose marina and identified. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office found the cause of death was salt water drowning and ruled Powers’ death an accident. With these discoveries, the Santa Clara Police Department’s investigation into his disappearance has been closed.
Powers, a Spokane, Washington resident went missing following the San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants football game at Levi’s Stadium on Monday, Nov. 12.
On Saturday, Nov. 17, at about 3 p.m., the San Jose Police Department responded to a possible body in the waters near the Alviso Marina (801 Mill St., San Jose). A group of duck hunters reported seeing a body lying face down in the low-tide water approximately one mile north of the Alviso Marina boat ramp.
Rescue divers from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded and assisted the Coroner’s Office in recovering the body. The coroner took custody of the body.
Based on its investigation, the Coroner’s Office has determined that the cause of death was salt water drowning. The manner of death has been ruled an accident. Based on these findings, the SCPD’s investigation into Powers’ disappearance is now closed.

How on Earth did he wind up drowning in salt water after a 49ers game? I'd like to know the full chain of events from one to the other. We certainly don't want such an "accident" happening to another out-of-town fan.
