Bay Area Student to Compete in National Biology and Physics Olympiad Competitions

Aneesh Samineni has been selected to participate in the 2015 Biology Olympiad (USABO) and Physics Olympiad (USAPhO) National Finals with the chance to win a spot to represent the United States at the international finals in July.

Aneesh is a junior at The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale. He is one of 20 students to make it to the national competition from a pool of over 10,000 students registered nationally for the Annual USA Biology Olympiad (USABO). He is also one of top 20 high school students to make it to the national competition of Physics Olympiad (USAPhO). Finalists were selected based on their scores from the USABO and USAPhO Open and Semifinal Exams.

USABO finalists meet at Purdue University from May 31 to June 14 to compete for U.S. medals. During the two weeks at Purdue, the finalists will participate in intensive theoretical and practical tutorials. At the conclusion of the camp, the students take practical and theoretical exams. The four highest scoring students will be named Team USA 2015 and will represent the nation at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Aarhus, Denmark from July 12-19. The IBO is a worldwide competition involving students from over 60 countries.
